Guidance:

Duty cases are cases sent through to the Kinship Team with a minimal amount of information regarding the child to be recorded in Part 1 - Record of Key Information. Please note with Duty cases you DO NOT need to complete the Part 2 - Assessment of Family and Friends Carers

Find the person, and click on 'New Episode' and find 'CH Placement Referral'

Start the episode in your incoming work folders.

Click on the green cross

You will need to complete the 'Art Referral Form' (if you need to find a placement) and the 'Part 1 - Record of Key Information - Area Team.

If it is a duty case you MUST choose one of the 'Duty' assessment requests (see highlighted section above)

Choose the outcome 'CH Referral to Kinship' and send to the Kinship team. For a Duty case, you will have to choose 'Duty' as an outcome 'reason'

For a Duty case you MUST select the urgent 'Priority', this will notify the Kinship Team, that it is a Duty case

Choose the outcome 'CH Initial Short-term Fostering Panel Requirements' if it is a Regulation 38, and send the outcome to yourself.

If it is a Regulation 38, and the child is already placed with the Kinship Carers, choose the outcome 'New LAC Placement (Kinship case only), to update the placement, and legal status for the child.

Referral to Kinship (Non-Duty Case)

The referrals made to the Kinship Teams will vary if the case is a non-duty, or a duty case.

You must complete Part 1 - Record of Key Information - Area Team and Part 2 Assessment of Family and Friends Carers, as set out in the protocol requirements. If Part 1 and Part 2 are not completed correctly, the episode will be returned to the Social Worker in the area teams.

Choose the outcome 'CH Referral to Kinship' and send to the Kinship team. Add a reason, if it is a Regulation 38, or a Short-Term Fostering Assessment for example.

Choose the outcome 'CH Initial Short-term Fostering Panel Requirements' if it is a Regulation 38, and send the outcome to yourself.

If it is a Regulation 38, and the child is already placed with the Kinship Carers, choose the outcome 'New LAC Placement (Kinship case only), to update the placement, and legal status for the child.
